Tips For When You Go To A Wine Tasting Event

If you are new to wine tasting, you might not know what to expect or what you should do in order to ensure that you are going to get the most out of the experience. To help you with this, you will want to take note of the following suggestions.

Decide If You Are Going To Spit Or Swallow

While wine tasting, you will notice that there will be some spit or dumb buckets on the tables. This is so you can enjoy your wine tasting experience how you want. For example, some people will get a taste of the wine in their mouth, but then they will spit it into the bucket so they do not consume too much alcohol, especially if they will be driving home. Others will swallow one sip of each wine that they taste and then pour the rest of what is in their glass into the bucket. Others, who may have a designated driver with them, will drink all of the wine that they are given to taste.

Swirl The Wine

After you have decided how much wine you are actually going to consume, it is time to get started with the tasting. Once you have your glass in hand, you will want to swirl the wine around a little bit. Be careful not to spill. You want to swirl it gently so you can get oxygen into the wine. After you have swirled the wine, you will want to lift the glass to your nose so you can deeply inhale the aroma of the wine.

Take Your Sip

Make sure that you are not just chugging down the wine, as you will miss out on the chance to really become familiar with the flavor. Take a small sip of wine and allow it to sit in your mouth for a moment while you really discover the flavor. Slightly opening your mouth to inhale a little air will also help you realize more of the flavor within the wine. Once you have done that, you are free to swallow the wine or spit it out and move on to the next wine sample.Try to make a mental note of all of the wines that you like the most, so you can later purchase them if you want.

With those tips in mind, you are now ready to start looking for the next upcoming wine tasting event. You might find some of these in your local area or while you are away on your upcoming vacation. Click here for more information on other wines like Sauterne wine!
